We are committed to making District Door readable, navigable and usable for every reader.
District Door aims to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA across our website and apps. We design for keyboard navigation, screen readers, sufficient color contrast and readable typography — because journalism only works if everyone can access it.
What we support
- Keyboard navigation. Skip links, visible focus states and logical tab order across articles, navigation and forms.
- Screen reader compatibility. Semantic headings, landmarks, alt text on images and ARIA labels where native HTML is insufficient.
- Readable type. Scalable fonts, comfortable line length and respect for reduced-motion preferences.
- Captions and transcripts. Video and audio features include captions or transcripts where we publish them.
Ongoing work
Some archived graphics and third-party embeds may not yet meet our standards. We audit new features before release and prioritize fixes that block core reading tasks.
Report a barrier
If you encounter an accessibility issue, tell us what you were trying to do and which assistive technology you use. We respond within three business days.
