Editorial policy
How District Door assigns, verifies, edits and publishes journalism — and what we will not do to chase volume.
District Door publishes original reporting and analysis for readers who need verified facts, clear context and accountable journalism. We do not optimize for article count, keyword volume or syndicated rewrites of wire copy.
Originality & attribution
- Primary reporting first. Stories must add verification, context or analysis beyond what is already widely available.
- No near-duplicates. We do not publish multiple versions of the same story to chase search traffic, nor lightly rewrite partner headlines to inflate volume.
- Credit sources. When we rely on wire services, documents or data providers, we say so clearly and link where appropriate.
Verification & editing
- Two-source rule for contested claims. Sensitive allegations require corroboration before publication.
- Human edit on every story. Automated drafting tools may assist research, but a named editor approves the final copy, headline and dek.
- Named bylines. Every published article carries a real staff byline linked to an author profile — not generic “Staff” credit.
Automation boundaries
RSS monitoring and AI-assisted drafting help our editors spot developing stories faster. They do not replace editorial judgment. Automated runs are rate-limited, logged in our admin system and subject to the same originality standards as manually assigned pieces.
